Where can I Find a Replacement Doorbell Solenoid?!?
Someone Broke my Doorbell Button the other day, and somehow they Managed to Break the Button is such a Way, that the Button was Held-Down, Permanently!!
That's not the Problem - I got a New Button.
The Problem, is that when they Broke the Button so it stays Down, the Doorbell Chime was Constantly making a Humming-Noise, and it Burnt-up the Solenoid in the Chime!! Once I replaced the Button, it stopped Humming.
And even after Replacing the Doorbell Button, I had Another Problem.
When I Press my New Button, the Indoor-Chime makes that Familiar Humming-Noise!!
I took Apart the Chime, and found the Solenoid was Stuck! It was Melted, and could Not Move!!
I Tried to Break it Loose, and that didn't help. It looks like something made of Black Plastic melted around the Solenoid.
The Actual Chime/Bell Bars are perfectly Fine!! It's just the Solenoid!!
I Removed the Solenoid, and can Easily Install a New One.
But Where can I find a New Doorbell Solenoid?!?
Home Depot carries the solenoid. They cost about $12.00. I was going to replace a solenoid for the same reason as you (burned up by stuck doorbell button) but I wasn't positive the new solenoid was identical with the old so I just bought a whole new outfit. About $25.00. Anyway, Home Depot.
