Will I be required to take the stand in a murder case if I was the alibi?
I am part of an alibi in a murder case where the defendant has pleaded not guilty. I was wondering if I will be served a subpoena to be a witness in court. Can I legally refuse? Do I need my own attorney? Is there any other way for me to provide a statement or be questioned without actually taking the stand? I am terrified of taking the stand and being asked so many questions. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
You must testify. As long as you are telling the truth there is no reason to be terrified.
