whats a garrison hat? ARMY says there is different hats and one is a garrison hat?
I have all the documentation for all ARMY dress uniforms and combat uniforms. Everything about them from they are made of to when you can wear them. One of the hats is the baret, the sturdy realy cool looking service cap, and then a garrison hat. its the one that looks like a paper hat. the ones that ww2 troops wore to come home kind of thing. well what is garrison in relation to wearing this hat. thanks alot guys.
do they use the service cap? the form said it is to be worn with dress blues and the ARMY is eliminating dress greens for dress blues.
The Army doesn't use the garrison hat anymore. It's been replaced entirely by the beret.
But "garrison" refers to a unit's base. Basically the "campus" area of a military base where all the buildings are.
During WWII, the garrison hat was called an "Overseas Cap" and was worn instead of the "Service Cap" which is often referred to in slang as the "Bus Driver Hat."
