CanI file as Head of House hold Unique Situation?
Hi,
My ex Girlfriend and I lived together through the middle of Sept. She had 2 children (not mine) We split up and she moved. During the 3 years we lived together I earned over twice as much as she did. Can I file as head of House Hold? I was the HOHH for 9 months. Any thought?
Will I have to claim the children at that point? Or is it simply something I can prove with pay stubs etc. .

No. You cannot claim head of household for the 2008 tax year.
To be the head of an household you have to support someone else.
You would definitely have to claim the children as dependents. For the children to be your dependent you have to be a close relative of these children.(ei...father, sister, aunt, brother...etc.)
Unfortunately since you were not married, you do not qualify for any other status than 'single'.
