Percussion Kits

It starts off in a factory, you're watching something being made, and I think it scrolls Asimov's rules of Robotics on the screen. Then you see the finished product, and it's a cyborg/robot.

So, the robot gets shipped to this family, and a holographic projector pops out of his head, and he goes on about the rules of robotics (I'm assuming they're Asimov's).

The hateful teenager makes the robot jump out of the window at some point, and they have to get him fixed, then he starts working with wood, and becomes creative, and accidentally cuts his thumb off.

Then, later on in the movie, he becomes obsessed with becoming human. Eventually, all his machinery is replaced with artificial organs and he dies.

And I think Robin Williams played the robot once he was human-ish.
