what's wrong with my snare drum?
I recently received a Gammon drum kit as a gift, and I'm having problems with it. The snare drum they supplied sounds like, well, it sounds like poop. The main problem isn't the pitch or the ringing of the drum when i hit it, but it's the rattling of the snare. It vibrates for 3-4 seconds after I hit the drum, and i can't seem to get it to stop. i've tried turning the knob to loosen and tighten the snare (next to the lever to lower the snare) but neither that, nor tightening or loosening either of the drumheads has helped this problem. any suggestions? also the crash cymbal sounds horrible, are there any ways to help that sound better? thanks.
