In a salt-water chlorinated swimming pool, how is the skimmer box's flapper valve plate attached?
It is a 50,000 litre pool. While I was cleaning the skimmer box filter, I noticed the flapper valve loose inside the housing. I am unable to see where it attaches. It has a lug on each end of one of the sides, and a spring loaded round lug on each end of another side.

I believe you're talking about a "skimmer weir". The spring loaded weirs are generally universal but come in different sizes. Take the measurements of your existing weir and order a new one from your local swimming pool business.
There should be two dimples in the bottom front of your skimmer for the weir to be placed. Feel around with your fingers and you'll feel something.
If you can figure out which skimmer is installed in your swimming pool, you can also acquire an OEM weir from the manufacturer.
