why should there be a height requirement to become an airline pilot?

I heard that the seat in the cockpit is adjustable, so why should there be this height limit?
I'm 159 cm do you think that i can reach the pedals, reach the controls or see over the panel???

There is no FAA height limit to become a pilot as long as you can show that you can reach the pedals during your check-ride. That would be like saying that short people cant drive busses or trucks... however, wtih the military there are height requirements, mostly effecting those on the tall end... (an overly tall pilot would not be able to get his knees under the dash in the event of an ejection and would thus break his/her legs.... overly short pilots would not be able to reach the pedals and see over the dash at the same time... Airliers are more forgiving with a wide range of seat adjustments, you can change just about anything, not so with a fighter jet...)
