djembe brands: Mid-East or Meinl?
im about to buy a "djembe head 13, and I'm having a hard time to really choose between these two marks. basically what it is to get wood, mango wood or mahogany? i heard the drums mid-East are made of wood better (mango wood) w / a lesser probability of crack, but ive always heard mahogany is the best material for making drums. for all connoisseurs djembe basic drive you there: how important is there in body shape between the two drums? http://www.musicalinstrumenthaven.com/djembe13x24mangowooddark.aspx c. http://www.amazon.com/Meinl-African-Style-Tuned-Djembe/dp/B001MWC1K2/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid = 1304768300 & sr = 1-7 and finally someone knows where I can buy a rubber / plastic ring placed on the bottom (the way a drum toca) to protect the drum?
I went with TOCA. They have a great sound and really good quality control, which is particularly important with regard to the skin.
