Software Ion
I need help getting a video from my digital camcorder onto Windows Movie Maker?
The Camcorder: it's a mini DV (sony premium digital videocassette), a panasonic, it has a fully charged Li-ion battery pack.
I've hooked it up with a USB cable to the computer but all that happened was that the first time a bubble popped up (lower right hand corner of the screen) saying something had been connected to the USB port and that it was ready to be used. Clicking the notice did nothing. So then I ran a search for new hardware to install and the computer couldn't detect any new hardware. Now I have no clue what to do. Some people told me that I probably needed to download certain software to get the video off. Other people told me that most camcorders can open just with Windows. Help?
Model Number: PV-GS35
The usb port is usually for still pictures or low-resolution video.
To get full video from your camera you may need a firewire port (Ieee-1394 I think).
If your system doesnt have one there are fairly cheap add-on cards that will provide one.
Your camera may have come with some software for downloading the video.
Windows Movie Maker has a capture option .
Can you supply the model number of your camera ?
