Soundboard Pickup
How to get pickup for an acoustic guitar but stay NOT visible?
Im going to get my first taylor guitar here shortly but its a 210 (no electronics). reason im getting this model because its a 2004 model so it has all solid woods and the price tag is unbeatable, even though used. i want to install a pickup and possibly a soundboard to pretty much make it a 210e. does anyone know if this is possible? ive seen pickups installed but theyre right under the strings and really visible.
any help appreciated, thanks!
note: i DONT want a visible pickup, they look tacky
You don't want a soundhole pickup in any case because they're magnetic and you'll lose the acoustic sound of your guitar when amplified. What you want is an under-saddle pickup of which there is a large selection. Fishman makes a whole bunch of them and LR Baggs makes several that also have little controls that are inside (but accessible from) the sound hole. Those are highly recommended.
If you really want to have one of those control boxes on the side of your guitar, that can be done as well although it's a lot of work and more expensive to do.
