I know I'm not supposed to put steel strings on my nylon(classical) guitar.. but...?
I really don't like trying to play country/pop on my classical. I bought a $200 yamaha CG101A from guitar center in June to learn guitar. I realize now, that even though it is easier on my fingers, I'm not liking the sound. I can't switch to a steel string just yet, since I have just started and my parents spent $200 on it. So is there anything I can do to make a steel string sound? Like are there any types of strings out there that are nylon, but still produce a little bit of a steel string sound?
I'm learning some rock songs also and it just sounds really really weird.
Unless you want to rupture your bridge you'd best stay with nylon strings. But consider this: If you purchase a soundhole amplification apparatus, such as made by Lawrence, buy an acoustic amplifier with settings for twang, you might get the sound that you want.
In light of all this, start saving up for a steel-stringed guitar.
